Who Should Attend
Cardiovascular Disease Disparities: Translating Research Into Practice Conference provides a forum for researchers, academicians, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, community and faith-based researchers, students and other investigators to share findings and be informed of the latest trends, methods and research on cardiovascular health disparities. The conference will highlight promising research and practices for a range of healthcare providers and organizations
CONFERENCE GOALS
The major goals of the 2005 Maya Angelou Research Center National Conference are to: 1) Define, describe, and discuss etiologies for current racial/ethnic disparities in CVD health in the US and, 2) highlight successful programs and/or practices to ameliorate or eliminate these existing health inequities.
Invited keynote speakers will discuss cardiovascular disease as it relates to the metabolic syndrome, the role of spirituality and health, civil rights and health and disparities in care. Conference sessions will include oral presentations and posters selected through a competitive Call for Abstracts. All oral presentations will be presented at general workshop sessions for all participants and a poster session will be held on Friday evening.
