Sessions for the conference will pertain to Social Justice and it’s implications for Education, Environment, Arts, Community Based Education, College Students, and Diversity.
Keynote speakers and performers:
Madeline Rogero
Ms. Rogero was founding executive director of Knoxville’s Promise — The Alliance for Youth, former executive director of Dolly Parton’s Dollywood Foundation and the UT Community Partnership Center, and an economic development planner with the TVA. She is a former county commissioner and a recent mayoral candidate for Knoxville, TN

Guy and Candie Carawan
Guy and Candie Carawan are former staff members of Highlander Research and Education Center. They will give a history of social justice movements through story and song.
Friday, June 3
Evening
“Schools and Their Use of Community Based Education for Social Justice”
Panelists include, Vandy Kemp, former principal at Heritage High School and currently Vice President & Dean of Students at Maryville College, and Paula McGhee, formerly with the Black Cultural Center at Berea College.

Sparky and Rhonda Rucker, “Heroes & Hard Times: The Struggle for Social Justice”
Sparky and Rhonda Rucker have performed throughout the U.S., singing songs and telling stories from the American tradition. Sparky Rucker has been performing over forty years and is internationally recognized as a leading folklorist, musician, historian, storyteller, and author. Rhonda Rucker is an accomplished harmonica and piano player, and also adds vocal harmonies to their songs.
