Free Training on Developing Partnerships for Local Emergency Management

Dear Presidents, Community Service Directors & Service-Learning Contacts:

I am writing to invite you to attend a free training on developing partnerships for local emergency management. I recently sent a message to your president encouraging the institution’s participation in the training.

The Ready Campus Initiative is hosting an April 8, 2005 training workshop at the Penn State University Great Valley Campus in Malvern, PA. The training is designed to create partnerships among Pennsylvania’s colleges and universities and communities to strengthen preparation for and response to emergencies through the use of campus facilities, campus volunteers, and service-learning opportunities and to prepare students to be crisis-ready civic leaders of thefuture.

Please share the Ready Campus training information with those people on campus who have responsibility for emergency preparation and response or who have an interest in emergency management. Ideally, we would like to see a team of people attend the training. The team could include the Director of Public Safety, Dean of Students, Faculty members, Director of Community Service/Service-Learning, the local emergency Management Agency Director, and the local American Red Cross Chapter Director. This training, underwritten by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, is free for participants. Materials and lunch will be provided.
