KIDS Consortium is offering two introductory one-day workshops- please share

$135.00 per person.
Continuing Education Credits available for a $10 processing fee.

1. learn about KIDS Consortium=B9s service-learning model
2. see service-learning as an effective strategy to meet many other student-centered goals
Getting Started: KIDS Service-Learning
1. Are you thinking about starting a service-learning project in your classroom or community organization?
2. Would you like to improve an existing project or idea?
3. Have you tried a project and had a rocky start?
This day-long Getting Started workshop is designed to help educators use the KIDS Consortium’s service-learning model. You will come away from this workshop with lots of tools, strategies and enthusiasm to begin a KIDS service-learning project in your school and community!
Specific topics to be covered
* Definition of Service-Learning (versus community service and community-based learning)
* Principles of the KIDS Service-Learning model
* Steps in a KIDS Service-Learning project (with heavy emphasis on Guided Discovery Strategies for student ownership)
* Connecting KIDS projects to curriculum, standards and assessment
* Working with community partners
* Celebrating successes with students, parents, community
