National Training to Implement or Enhance a local Teen Court

Hosted by the Global Issue Resource Center, this National Training to Implement or Enhance a local Teen Court or Youth Court will take place in Cleveland, Ohio from March 30-31, 2009.  There are currently now more than 1,200 local youth and teen court programs in 49 states and the District of Columbia.  During the most recent one year period, a record 111,868 juvenile and delinquent cases were referred to local youth and
teen courts and more than a record 133,832 volunteers, to include both youth and adults volunteered to help with the disposition and sentencing of these juvenile cases.  Youth court programs offer a positive alternative to traditional juvenile justice and school disciplinary procedures, hold juveniles accountable for their delinquent and criminal behavior, promote restorative justice principles, help educate youth about the legal system and encourage and teach civic and service life lessons.  Register today and join those interested in establishing a new local program and other adults new to an existing local program. Register early as space is limited!
