National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship Traning
Posted by on June 6, 2003
The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is an organization that provides training and curriculum for teachers (and community organization staff) who are interested in leading entrepreneurship classes for students between the ages of 11 and 18.
NFTE is hosting a training in Pittsburgh July 27-August 1, 2003. The training is open to all teachers who can commit to leading students through this curriculum in the fall. All teachers are invited; however, there is a special scholarship program for Philadelphia teachers. These teachers will be able to attend the training and receive curriculum materials for FREE!
NFTE UNIVERSITY TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAMS
NFTE University prepares teachers and youth work professionals to launch a NFTE youth entrepreneurship program at their school or program site. Through peer teaching, instructor-led sessions, and the creation of a business plan, participants learn how to teach key concepts in the NFTE curriculum. They also receive guidance from NFTE staff on implementation strategies.
NFTE?s teacher education programs introduce participants to NFTE?s award-winning curricula, appropriate for high school and middle school students, which are available in both text and Internet formats. NFTE?s curriculum aligns with National Council for the Teaching of Mathematics (NCTM), National Council for Social Studies (NCSS) and the US Department of Labor Secretary?s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS) standards.
After launching NFTE youth entrepreneurship programs, certified teachers enter NFTE?s international teacher corps, and can access ongoing teaching resources, professional development opportunities, and alumni services for their students.
