First National Conference on What Works in Education Partnerships
Date(s): February 20, 2009 – February 21, 2009
Venue: Hyatt Regency Hotel Phoenix AZ
Description
We are pleased to extend an invitation to you to attend and participate in the first National Conference on What Works in Education Partnerships.
As Ernest Boyer, an influential American educator has articulated so well, American colleges and universities are reorganizing themselves to focus on pressing social issues. Arizona State University as the New American University is incorporating new design principles of engagement.
We believe that education partnerships will be instrumental in this endeavor. In recent years, a substantial evidence-based educational practice has emerged among educational researchers and policy-makers. However, much less attention has been given to the identification of ‘what works’ and ‘best practices’ in producing the evidence needed. There exists a critical need to develop effective ways to help education leaders, practitioners, policy-makers, philanthropists, researchers and evaluation experts make sense of the available evidence.
In order to create a network of leaders and scholars interested in What Works in dealing with important educational problems, the ASU Office of the Vice President for Education Partnerships will be hosting the first national meeting on What Works in Education Partnerships on February 20-21, 2009 in Phoenix, AZ. This conference is designed to bring together leaders from the education community, educational researchers, evaluation experts, practitioners, policy-makers, and philanthropists as well as many other individuals, organizations and foundations that are committed to improving educational systems in our communities.
