Community-Campus Partnerships for Health is pleased to announce our third annual Advanced Service-Learning Institute, February 1 – 4, 2003 in San Jose, CA.

We encourage you to apply early, as space is limited to 25 participants. Teams from academic institutions that are trying to build sustainable multi-disciplinary support for service-learning are especially encouraged to apply.

WHAT: CCPH 2003 Advanced Level Service-Learning Institute
THEME: “Service-Learning in the Health Professions: Fostering Leadership for Service-Learning Sustainability”
DATE AND LOCATION: February 1 – 4, 2003 in San Jose, California

This institute builds upon our introductory level institute and is designed for academic administrators, faculty, staff and community partners who have already implemented service-learning courses or programs. If you have either attended our introductory level institute OR have demonstrated experience with service-learning AND seek to sustain service-learning in your institution or organization, this institute is for you.
During daily, intensive, interactive workshops and small group sessions, participants learn about:
*Understanding and influencing change within health professions schools and community settings;
*Strategies for institutionalizing service-learning into the health professions curriculum;
*Methods for developing a community-based scholarship portfolio for use in faculty promotion and tenure decisions;
*Effective methods for assessing service-learning outcomes for faculty, student, community, and institutional stakeholders;
*The core leadership skills and competencies needed to sustain service-learning partnerships;
*Models of faculty and staff development for implementation at home institutions/organizations.
