Volunteer Opportunity: Lead Activity for Philly Kids Summer 2007! 1 Hour/Week!
Description: ASAP/After School Activities Partnerships is looking for volunteers to lead activities for kids 1 hour/week in Philadelphia this summer at local schools, recreation centers and community centers. Volunteers choose the type of activity. Popular activities include: Scrabble, chess, arts & crafts, dance, drama and sports. Volunteers are welcome to co-lead an activity with a friend/colleague! Skills Needed: Interest in and commitment to working with, leading and mentoring kids! Volunteers participate in a one hour training at ASAP. After participating in the training, volunteers will understand ASAP’s mission and accomplishments; understand the important role of volunteers in the community; be familiar with basic techniques on how to lead an activity for kids; and know ASAP’s expectations of volunteers and what volunteers can expect from ASAP. Volunteers complete the appropriate paperwork for working with kids, including a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance.
