Support and/or Join, Philadelphia NAACP Youth Council
Posted by on November 18, 2005
We are seeking youth who are leaders or developing leaders, to join the Philadelphia NAACP Youth Council. We are talking to the School District about starting after school NAACP Clubs in 10 High Schools. Next September we plan to start after school clubs in 10 Middle Schools. You may post this and the fact that we are always recruiting new members, grades 5th to 12th. Membership is only $15.00 per year and we meet every 2nd & 4th Saturday, 2:00 pm at our office, 1619 Cecil B. Moore Ave. Currently we are assisting youth in the fine art of Parliamentary Procedure, planning the agenda and motivating youth volunteers to serve on committees. The youth are having a coat drive for new and slightly used coats that will be distributed on Christmas eve to shelters that the youth have contacted. And then there is CAMP ACT-SO our academic Saturday Program to assist youth in SAT Preparation, and scholarship competition in the Humanities, Sciences, Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Music.
We are looking for support in the way of financial donations, coat donations and workshop presenters and youth members. Any company who wishes to sponsor a month of Saturday workshops would be welcome or they may sponsor one or more Saturdays as they have recourses.
Interested parties my contact me, Rev. Elisha B. Morris, Phila. NAACP Youth Advisor at 215-978-7500 or email ctyouthpastor@hotmail.com
