Build a garden at the Powell middle school with members of the school community and the Urban Nutrition Initiative (UNI). UNI is a university-community partnership that engages K-12 learners in an active, real world problem solving curriculum that strives to improve community nutrition and wellness. School-based gardens are one of UNI?s primary strategies to engage young people in studying and building local food systems.
Through school gardens students learn how to grow, cook and sell healthy foods as well as how to compost food waste to build healthy soil. Join us to help launch one of UNI?s newest school gardening partnerships as we work with public school students and teachers to create spaces for growing food in West Phila.
Space is limited. Please call the White Dog at (215) 386-9224 to reserve your place.
