MLK Day Volunteering With United Way
Posted by on January 10, 2003
On January 20, 2002 the Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service will organize more than 35,000 volunteers to serve at hundreds of project sites throughout the six county area (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia and Camden County NJ). As in past years, we hope to have thousands of citizens from all ages and backgrounds come together to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy of citizen action and community through innovative, fun, and educational projects. For the past seven years, the Greater Philadelphia Martin Luther King Day of Service has lead the country in the largest King Day of Service Movement.
YOU can join the movement by creating a project, requesting volunteers to join you or signing up to volunteer in an existing project in your neighborhood. All registered projects and volunteers will receive a free T-shirt and an opportunity to reflect through direct action with neighbors, friends and family. Join us in “A Day ON, Not A Day Off”!
