Internship and Volunteer Opportunities at the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC)

The International Programs unit of the AFSC is seeking people who are interested in learning about the lives of people in other countries. In 1947, AFSC and its sister organization, Quaker Peace and Service in England, won the Nobel Prize for providing assistance to people following World War II. Guided by belief in the power of love and nonviolence to transform evil and injustice, AFSC currently sponsors peace-building and social justice programs in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America/Caribbean, and the Middle East.

AFSC programs are firmly rooted in Quaker beliefs; through the years AFSC has attracted the support and partnership of people of many races, religions and cultures. (See: http://www.afsc.org/intl.htm)

AFSC international programs are strongly committed to, and recognized for, their work for the empowerment of ethnic minorities, women and others who are marginalized or oppressed.

Interns and Volunteers are needed to help with projects such as:
Research on current themes
Requesting and preparing material assistance (for shipping to those in need in the US and other countries )
Media monitoring
Disseminating publications and statements
General office work (filing, mailings, preparing materials for archives, etc.)
Other special projects
