New Article: Civic Engagement in Higher Education

PHENND Co-Chair and founder, Dr. Ira Harkavy, was published in the most recent issue of the Wingspread Journal, which was subtitled, “Beyond the Ivory Tower.”
Dr. Harkavy’s article “Civic Engagement in Higher Education” focuses on the development of the university-assisted community school model. He also describes the role of Center for Community Partnerships as well as Penn’s presidents in deepening the university’s engagement in West Philadelphia and gives the creation of the Health Promotion Disease Prevention Program at Sayre as a prime example.
