New Info on Out of School Time
Posted by on June 11, 2007
We are happy to alert you to several new resources from HFRP’s research study on the predictors of youth participation in out-of-school time (OST) activities:
* HFRP staff published an article in the inaugural issue of the “Journal of Youth Development: Bridging Research and Practice.” The article describes demographic gaps in participation across a range of activity types and multiple indicators of participation (e.g., intensity and breadth).

* Updated findings from the study, including a list of publications that discuss our findings on the role of families and neighborhoods in predicting participation, are now available on our website.

* OST team members organized the “Critical Issues in Adolescent Participation in Out-of-School Time Activities” symposium at the Society for Research on Adolescence meeting in March 2006. This symposium featured findings from several studies, including our own, about contextual predictors of participation, youth engagement, program quality, and youth outcomes. Presenters? slides are now posted on our website.
