Campus Compact website for college responses to Katrina
Posted by on September 9, 2005
All of us in the college community are deeply concerned and distressed about the conditions in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama and send our colleagues there our fervent best wishes, condolences, and deep concern. We are also impressed by the quick and helpful response of many college presidents to the challenges of their southern colleagues. We at Campus Compact also want to be helpful.
In response to inquiries about how colleges and universities can help with disaster relief efforts and to provide information about how students can get involved, Campus Compact is developing a page on our website as a source of information.
Visit the homepage: http://www.compact.org/
We’ve set up a Discussion Board for your community service and service learning directors to share information and post suggestions, ideas, and things your campus is doing to support disaster relief. It can be found at: http://www.compact.org/forums/index.php. We are also sharing the good work of our state compacts through these forums.
Please ask your staff to send information about campus relief efforts going on in your state or ways in which your campus is organizing/mobilizing students to Carrie Cannon (ccannon@compact.org) to post on our website.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our colleagues and everyone who is affected by this disaster.
