Adolescent Intervention Network (AIN), a community-based, nonprofit, organization in Philadelphia, helps youth avoid the negative effects of peer pressure and poor self-image through a series of educational and structured self-esteem workshops.

AIN?s main program ?Youth Making Positive Choices? is aimed at helping at-risk youth begin their journey to a new and happy life, promotes individuality, self-respect, and self-confidence Included in the workshops are activities that instill cultural pride in African American youth by educating them on the positive contributions made by their ancestors to the United States, as well as the historical significance of illiteracy on the African American population.

AIN’s mission is to instill in youth a love and appreciation for education while providing instruction based on the academic standards in Pennsylvania that include Blooms Taxonomy along with Howard Gardner?s Multiple Intelligences. It is imperative to remember that each child is an individual, who has his or her own learning style, and is capable of achieving success. As children become successful, their self-esteem improves as well as their desire to embrace new challenges.

AIN offers four (4) workshops for youth ages 8 through 21:
1. The Leader In You- Youth learn how to use their own resources to make decisions that positively impact their lives.
2. In Whose Image – In the midst of the materialistic sub-culture they live in, youth learn to become staunch individuals.
3. Resolving Inner/Outer Conflicts- Youth learning that change must first occur within.
4. Becoming Your Own Best Friend – Youth learn to first be kind to themselves.
