The OCC’s Community Affairs Department recently began publishing a Community Developments Investments edition of our Community Developments newsletter. The summer 2004 edition, which focuses on bank investments in the New Markets Tax Credits:
-contains examples of banks partnering with community-based organizations to finance transactions that would not have been “bankable” without the tax credit,
-describes interagency Community Reinvestment Act guidance concerning New Markets Tax Credits, and
-clarifies the legal authority under which national banks may invest in New Markets Tax Credits.
