More Data on State of Low-Wage Workers

Sorry to bombard folks with a couple of messages in the same week, but we wanted to let you know that we’ve posted an additional data source on our website related to our recent report, “The ‘State’ of Low-Wage Workers.” We’ve used GIS to map the IRS zip code data to Congressional Districts for the 108th (current) Congress. The new file on our website contains, for each of the 436 districts (including nonvoting D.C.), information on the total number of tax filers, EITC claimants, percentage of filers claiming EITC, and total EITC dollars for tax year 2001.
With Congressional debates on the budget now including proposals to cut the EITC, some of you may find this data helpful in describing the impact of the credit to your members in their own districts.
You can find the file online (in MS Excel format) under “Additional Resources” at http://www.brookings.edu/es/urban/publications/eitc/20040203_berube.htm
