Harvard Family Research Out-of-School Time Program
Posted by on September 5, 2003
Harvard Family Research Project has launched a new series of publications entitled “Out-of-School Time Evaluation Snapshots” that we thought you might find of interest. This series distills the wealth of information compiled in our Out-of-School Time Program Evaluation Database, with each Snapshot examining a specific aspect of out-of-school time (OST) evaluation.
We have just released the first Snapshot in the series, “A Review of Out-of-School Time Program Quasi-Experimental and Experimental Evaluation Results.” This descriptive review of 27 quasi-experimental and experimental OST evaluations provides an overview of the impact of OST programs on an array of academic, prevention, and youth development outcomes. It also includes a resource list of other OST evaluation reviews.

For those of you who are not familiar with it, our Out-of-School Time Program Evaluation Database is an online database of OST program evaluation profiles. Each profile contains an overview of the out-of-school time program or initiative that was evaluated and detailed information about each evaluation report produced about that program. It is available at:

We plan to release several additional Snapshots in this new series. You can sign up to be notified when future Snapshots are released at:

We hope you find this Snapshot of interest and of use!
