Literacy Action Network (LAN) Resources

The Student Coalition for Action in Literacy Education (SCALE) invites you to take a look at a sample of the courses and projects generated by SCALE?s Literacy Action Network partners over the last three years. Funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service – Learn and Serve Higher Education, SCALE has worked with direct service and service-learning tutoring programs to develop, enhance, and sustain service-learning projects related to campus-based literacy tutoring. Excellent examples of syllabi and cocurricular training have emerged as well as student-led action projects. Each LAN campus combined direct service tutoring, exploration of the social contexts of literacy education, ongoing reflection, and developed a culminating community action project.

In the next few months, they will continue to post syllabi, reflection strategies, ideas for action projects, and training agendas from all three years of the project. They will also compile program evaluation strategies and tools used to capture participant learning and recipient benefit.
