Guide to Current Electoral Reform Issues
Posted by on April 25, 2003
Demos Releases New Guides on HAVA and Voting Rights Restoration and Election Day Registration. Demos has released two guides on new opportunities presented by the Help America Vote Act (HAVA). The first discusses the interaction between HAVA and voting rights restoration. It focuses on how the voter education, voter ID, and statewide computerized voter list provisions of HAVA relate to felony disenfranchisement. The second guide explores opportunities for implementing election day registration (EDR) while complying with HAVA. In particular, it examines how the statewide computerized voter list and provisional ballot requirements of HAVA relate to EDR. Both guides can be found on the Demos HAVA website, http://www.demos-usa.org/HAVA.
