mentors needed, Northwest University Scholars Project

Posted by on January 5, 2009

The Northwest University Scholars Project is a three-year focused program that uses one-to-one and/or group mentoring approach to match children with caring adults.  It is offered to residents of Northwest Philadelphia who are incoming, first-time 7th, 8th and 9th graders for the 2008-2009 school year in the project’s four participating schools: West Oak Lane Charter School, Kinsey and Pastorius Elementary School, and Martin Luther King High School.  If you are a graduate from one of these schools, consider being a mentor.  A program description is attached.

Adult mentors will serve as coaches to be paired with youth to aid them with making better choices, helping them to navigate around community challenges, and to encourage the scholars to take advantage of opportunities that can enhance their future outlook and strengthen or develop personal goals.  For more information or to become a mentor, call us today at (215) 424-5810 ext. 210.  Together, we can make a difference!
