“Youth Web Program is a youth development program designed to enhance academic, employment and social skills of high school students. The program is a visible commitment of the agency’s effort to empower individuals and families as they seek to enhance the quality of their lives. This is done by providing equal access to learning resources, including computers and the Internet, tutors and other educational media. The program targets youth in grades 9th to 12th. The Youth Web Program curriculum covers three main topic areas over the course of the academic year. Students who successfully complete the three tracks will be prepared to take the IC(3) – Internet & Computing Core Certification. The IC(3) offers students the opportunity to lean and demonstrate computer and Internet literacy through a global industry standard that accurately assesses and validates skills and productivity. Registration for YouthWeb ends on October 14, 2002. Program continues until June 2003. Program is free. In addition, Youth Web has become a Computer Technology Center and offers the following programs: GED/Adult Basic Education: and Adult Computer Classes as well as Tutorial Lab for middle & high school students (provides access to tutorial software and the Internet for research purposes).”
