I’m pleased to announce a just published book that could be very inspirational to S-L students from junior high throughcollege.
Typically, “Chicken Soup” books are designed for specific genres or markets. Nevertheless, with some trepidation, the creators decided to go forth and publish a book about a large group of Americans they had overlooked.
Volunteering has become such a force in recent times — and since September 11 — it has gained the highest level of respect and admiration throughout society. At least with the rhetoric in the press. The reality thoughof giving unconditional time for those in need is an acquired habit. But ever so slowly, albeit at times begrudging, Volunteering nevertheless is becoming a natural part of our citizen’s leisure time.
In “Chicken Soup for the Volunteer’s Soul,” we have 87 emotionally compelling stories representing the best from the front lines of giving around the world. Several stories are by young people who captured the essence of the mantra, “It is in forgetting ourselves, that we are found.”
For a sample story on the book, go to www.barnesandnoble.com, and scroll down the page on “Chicken Soup for the Volunteer’s Soul.” Or, go to http://www.chickensoup.com, or, http://www.amazon.com for additional background on the book.
