Wellness and Academic Success: From Policy to Action

If you are involved in school wellness policies, please consider attending the Wellness and Academic Success: From Policy to Action conference (April 30th and May 1st) sponsored by the PA Department of Education and PA Action for Healthy Kids. Wellness and Academic Success: From Policy to Action will feature speakers who will provide information and resources to help school districts implement wellness policies and achieve sustainable change.

Participants will:

? Hear the latest information on the positive relationship between students? health and academic success

? Identify strategies for implementing local wellness policies

? Learn about promising strategies for maintaining or enhancing fiscal health through wellness policies

? Learn how wellness policies affect students? health

? Identify ways to engage key players – students, staff, parents and community leaders – in collaborative efforts to implement wellness policies

? Share resources and promising practices

Additionally, to feature at this conference and on their website, Project PA is seeking Promising Practices related to local wellness policy implementation. Attached please find more details about submitting information. Note that the first category of promising practices relates to nutrition education. This would be a great opportunity to share your successes in low-income schools around nutrition and wellness!
