?Poor Pat Must Emigrate?: Irish Migration to Philadelphia
Wednesday, November 15, 4 p.m.?6 p.m.
Drawing upon engaging materials such as personal correspondence, missing-person notices, and other primary source documents, this workshop examines the experiences of nineteenth-century Irish immigrants in Philadelphia. Participants will explore major themes such as motivations for emigration to Philadelphia, the effects of resettlement on the family structure, and the experiences of community building in a new country. To register, contact Jen Coval at jcoval@hsp.org. This workshop is free and attendance qualifies for 2 hours toward Act 48 credit for Pennsylvania educators.
