Free GIS Training for Community Initiatives

Do you need information about your community, its resources, or the people you serve? Would you like information displayed in a visual map? Would you like use geographic information to support program evaluation, to write a grant proposal, or to identify what is happening in your community?

If so, come to a FREE Orientation to GIS (Geographic Information Systems)!

GIS is a computer program that allows you to

– analyze information using maps and other visual tools
– plan and make decisions for communities using geography

The Orientation to GIS will be offered Tuesday, August 23, 4-7 PM. Refreshments and registration will be available at 3:30 PM. The training will take place at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Steinberg Hall-Deitrich Hall, 3620 Locust Walk, Room 105.

Target audience:
Staff and volunteers of organizations and groups, as well as other public and private sector professionals interested in an overview of how GIS can be used to support community planning and decision making for neighborhood management, preservation, and revitalization initiatives. No previous experience with GIS is required.
