Need In Deed’s 2006 Shout Out
Posted by on April 7, 2006
Need in Deed’s (NID) 2006 SHOUT OUT will be held May 31st from 10:00 a.m. to noon in the auditorium of Central High School (1700 W. Olney Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19141).
This annual event gathers Philadelphia public school classes that have completed a year-long service-learning project using NID’s My Voice framework. It’s an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of the students and their teachers, and to reflect on the academic and community connections made in the course of addressing the social issue or concern identified by the students as the focus for their projects.
The ceremony acknowledges individual and project achievements, based on specific criteria and teacher recommendations. Student recognition categories include research, writing and leadership, and presenters include NID board members, foundation and corporate philanthropic representatives, community partners, and representatives from the School District of Philadelphia. This year’s event will also feature a surprise “celebrity” presenter.
