The Philadelphia Earth Charter Summit
A New Leadership Conference :: October 7 2005
This year we have greased the gears of sustainability in the metro Philly region: Friday Oct. 7, 2005 we are conducting a day-long celebration of the Earth Charter at the Gershman Y in Center City on the Avenue of the Arts, in downtown Philadelphia.
We’re inviting the top 200 leaders in the region, including many with sustainable behaviors as a core element of their organization’s mission statement and toward organizations which are hugely influential on our way of life but for whom reaching towards sustainability is seen a desirable but perhaps unreachable goal.
We’ll gather society’s leaders together to be inspired by words and performance art (addressing different aspects of the brain’s learning!) and will spend two-thirds of the day in small group breakout sessions, led by inspiring leaders who themselves have had breakthroughs in achieving the synthesis which embodies holistic interconnectedness as evidenced in the Earth Charter principles.

By inviting community leaders we aim to deliver skills, tools, and allies to each one – things they can use in their daily work, with their Boards and most importantly by infusing into their memberships & constituencies the remarkable vision of inter-dependence & respect for life in all forms, so vivid in the Earth Charter.
This day-long session of inspiration, with expert small group leaders will create new actions & relationships amongst colleagues & others will cost only $50 registration. Two meals from 12th Street Cantina, plus a special performance round it out.
When some of you receive our call I hope you’ll have already pencilled in the date. If you KNOW you want to participate, email: info@earthchartercitizens.org and change the subject to “CONNECT ME TO ECCS 2005”.

The Earth Charter is an international people?s agreement (not one by governments, UN or organizations). It charters a compassionate, just and sustainable world for all life. The Earth Charter was written by thousands of folks in 78 countries over the course of many years. It was launched at the Hague Peace Palace in June 2000. It has a context of interdependence and core values of economic and social justice, peace, democracy and ecological integrity.
