First United Nations Global Compact Conference: ?Bridging the Gap: Sustainable Environment? on September 16-18 in Philadelphia
The Wharton Risk Management and Decision Processes Center of the University of Pennsylvania is hosting Part 2 of the First United Nations Global Compact Academic Conference ?Bridging the Gap: Sustainable Environment? on September 16th-18th , 2004. This conference, which is being organized jointly with Sabanci University in Istanbul, Turkey, is conducted in two parts. The Part 1 took place on May 31st and June 1st in Istanbul and focused on ?Innovation and Diffusion of Environmentally Sound Technologies?. Building on the theme of Sustainable Development, the Wharton conference will bring together researchers and businesspeople from around the world to explore “Globalization, Development and Sustainable Environment” from the perspectives of industry and academia. This conference is expected to significantly contribute to the understanding of the problems countries and corporations face in identifying best practices and harvesting new solutions in the area of sustainable environment. Through in depth discussion sessions, the conference offers a venue for participants to share success stories and future plans. Some of the distinguished speakers include: C.K. Prahalad of the University of Michigan, Forrest Reinhardt of the Harvard Business School, Cengiz Ultav of the Vestel Group, Eduardo Wanick of DuPont, Stuart L. Hart of Cornell University, and Georg Kell of the United Nations Global Compact.
