Youth Summit on Technology and Service-Learning

Pennsylvania Service-Learning Alliance’s 3rd annual Youth Summit on Technology and Service-Learning is happening on Wednesday, June 2, 2004. The summit will take place from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. This year the event will be hosted by Project H.O.M.E.?s new Honickman Learning Center and Comcast Technology Labs, located at 1936 N. Judson Street in Philadelphia.

Attached is a request for proposals. We are looking for high school students to lead presentations on their specific projects, including information about:

? Addressing specific community technology needs through service-learning
? Facilitating service-learning projects using technology
? Sharing effective service-learning practices and resources

Special focus will be on presentations that demonstrate how students are bridging the digital divide in their communities.

The Youth Summit on Technology and Service-Learning will offer a host of student-led workshops focused on the theme of technology and service-learning. There will also be professional workshops covering topics such as web design, medical technology, and computer programming. A college and career fair will provide students a chance to network and gather information for future opportunities.

Attendance priority will be given to students who are leading workshops. Students must be accompanied by a teacher. Breakfast and lunch will be included. Presenters will receive a certificate of achievement. Door prizes and giveaways will also be provided.
