Institute for Church and Community Arts
Posted by on April 9, 2004
ICCA 2004 is the third annual training Institute of BuildaBridge International based in Philadelphia. ICCA is a six-day residency-based institute with a particular emphasis on at-risk communities. ICCA trains artists, church and community workers, and educators to integrate the arts in their service to others. This year?s Institute will focus on the practical skills necessary for using the arts in a transforming process.
Courses will include: creating a transformational organization, drama for transformation, creating a safe environment, urban youth culture, writing arts-integrated curriculum, and a special round-table dialogue on spirituality, youth and foster care.
Undergraduate, graduate, and ACT 48 teacher certification credits are obtainable through Eastern University. A certificate is offered through Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Travel and housing are the responsibility of the participant. Classes begin at 8:30AM on May 18 and conclude at 6:00PM on May 23, 2004.
For those that are interested in volunteering their time to coordinate background activities, duties will include: manning the registration table, setting up and breaking down classrooms and food, making photocopies, distributing and collecting evaluations and class handouts, and analyzing the completed evaluations. We are hoping to be able to recruit enough volunteers to have multiple shifts that are only several hours long each day. To volunteer people can contact me, Casey Milford, at cmilford@buildabridge.org or by phone at 215-842-0428.
