Attention all Community Service and Service-Learning Administrators and Faculty!

* Do you wish you had a ?Training Toolkit? to help you develop student leadership?
* Do you have training scenarios and workshops you?d like to share?
* Do you want to reward students who commit significant hours of service to their communities?
Then come to the Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania Student Leadership Development Institute!
The Scholars in Service Student Leadership Development Institute will bring together community service and service-learning professionals from across the state. The Institute will highlight the following:
Issues and Program Areas
– preparing young people for college and career
– designing nutrition and food education programs
– working with afterschool programs
– understanding issues related to homelessness and poverty
Cross-Cutting Skills
– dealing with priviledge: race, class and gender
– designing training components
– utlizing Federal Work Study to enhance community service programs
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania, an AmeriCorps program that rewards college students for significant service commitments. Participating campuses support groups of students, each of whom perform 450 hours of community service in a calendar year, earning them a $1250 AmeriCorps Education Award.
