Continuing in Foster Care Beyond Age 18: How Courts Can Help.
The role that courts can play in keeping youth in foster care beyond age 18 is the focus of a new issue brief from the Chapin Hall Center for Children. The study examines practices in Illinois, one of the few states that extends care to age 21. Findings indicate that strong advocacy within the juvenile court on behalf of foster youth plays a primary role in keeping youth in care.
