Exhibit portrays the dignity of those living in poverty
BuildaBridge, in conjunction with students from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School, will premier its signature event, IDignity, from December 2nd-22nd with an opening reception on December 4th.
The IDignity Project is an outgrowth and reflection of BuildaBridge’s commitment to arts-based interventions to address poverty, homelessness and hopelessness among distressed children and families in Philadelphia and around the world. The exhibition features artwork from local and international artists highlighting the dignity of those who live with social, economic and physical hardships.
There are 1.4 billion people in the world today living below the international poverty line on less than $1.25 a day. The IDignity Project recognizes the value of those living in poverty, and advocates for this traditionally silenced population in Philadelphia and abroad. The event will bring awareness to the realities of poverty through artistic media, and provoke viewers to take action against global poverty.
The IDignity exhibition can be viewed Monday through Friday, 10am-2pm and Sunday, 9am-12pm at the Philadelphia Cathedral, 37 Street and Chestnut Street. The reception on December 4th will take place from 6-9pm and will feature music, live performance and speakers. Artwork will be available for purchase. A suggested donation to Buildabridge will be taken at the door. For more information, go here or email Tegan Brozyna or call 215- 842-0428 ext. 16.
