Featuring two nationally acclaimed leaders in homeless education
Dr. Peter Miller, an associate professor in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, is a leading researcher and advocate for students without homes. His research on education in contexts of homelessness focuses largely on issues of policy, relationship networks, and spatial trends. His work probes for deeper understanding of federal, state, and local level policies’ shaping of school/community leadership practice and student/family outcomes.

Dr. John McLaughlin is the federal coordinator for the United States Department of Education’s Prevention and Intervention Programs for Children and Youth Who are Neglected, Delinquent, or At Risk, and the Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. In this capacity, Dr. McLaughlin is central in coordinating federal support to help states ensure that homeless children have equal access to public education. He has a doctorate in education and a master’s degree in public administration.
