2014 Technology in Adult Education Conference
The Mayor’s Commission on Literacy and Temple University’s Center for Social Policy and Community Development invite you to the 26th Annual Technology in Adult Education Conference at Temple University’s Main Campus on Friday, May 16, 2014.
The conference theme is “Connected Learning in Adult Education.”
Adult learners today require educational opportunities that help fulfill a wide variety of technology, social, educational and workforce goals. “Connected Learning” represents shifts in the way we conceptualize teaching and learning in adult education:
From instruction to learning: A shift from traditional classroom education, to learner-centric models of education that can happen in many different settings and are workforce contextualized.
From consumption to production: A shift from learners as passive consumers of knowledge, to active participants who are engaged with the process of production, and use technology to solve problems.
From institutions to networks: A shift from thinking about knowledge housed in centralized institutions, to thinking about broad networks of knowledge created by and for learners.
It is also important for adult educators to be informed of new technology trends in adult education, so we can best equip learners with the necessary work skills needed for family-sustaining employment. Mark your calendar, join us, and get inspired!
