About TEDxArcadiaUniversity

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is the perfect platform to bring together creative and passionate minds to share their knowledge and ideas that inspire with our university and the surrounding community.

According to the TED website, “Created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading,” the TEDx program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at the local level. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. MORE.

The TEDx ArcadiaUniversity 2014 Theme this year is Feeding America.

The film, “A Place at the Table,” is an important documentary that confronts the issue of hunger in America and the fact the forty-nine million Americans, including one in four children, go hungry every day. Given the references to hunger, food insecurity and nutrition and the role it plays in the development of the whole person, the subject of hunger became the basis for theme for this year’s conference. The term “Feeding America,” refers to “feeding” in the broadest sense of the word; In other words feeding the belly, and the mind as well as the soul. The dynamic speakers who have been invited to present at the conference are from a variety of professions, including the health care industry, academia, the hunger–related organizations, publishing and the performing arts.

[Ed note: PHENND Director Hillary Kane will be giving her first TEDx talk at this event.  Come check it out!]
