A Mighty Launch Party: “The Legacy of Philly Soul Radio”
Presented by PECO with support from the Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge
Come celebrate the launch of “Going Black: The Legacy of Philly Soul Radio,” a new audio documentary produced by Mighty Writers.
Narrated by legendary music producer Kenny Gamble, “Going Black” recalls the sound and fury of Jocko Henderson, Georgie Woods (pictured), Jimmy Bishop, Louise Williams and so many other great Philadelphia disc jockeys.

“Going Black: The Legacy of Soul Radio” was produced under the auspices of Mighty Writers,
the Philadelphia nonprofit that teaches writing to city kids, ages seven to 17. “Going Black” will air on WXPN 88.5 FM on February 3 from 8-10pm and on WHYY 90.9 FM on Sunday, February 16, 6-8pm and Saturday, February 22, 2-3pm. Listen live or online!
