Director of Family Support
The Center for Intergenerational Learning (CIL) at Temple University is dedicated to strengthening communities by bringing generations together to meet the needs of individuals and families throughout the life cycle. We achieve our mission by developing model programs that address critical community needs, providing training and technical assistance related to intergenerational and civic engagement programming, conducting research, and disseminating knowledge.
CIL is currently seeking a highly-experienced Program Director to help develop and oversee an integrated unit for the Center that supports families across the lifespan. The Family Support Director will have primary responsibility for managing a program that supports families, including parents and kinship caregivers, who are raising children with disabilities and special needs.
The Director will be responsible for coordinating activities across family support programs, raising and managing funds; building staff capacity; and designing shared information management and communications systems. Key program goals include the improvement of program quality and outcomes, creation of marketing and replication materials and the development of strategic relationships within Temple and with local/national partners. The Family Support Director will oversee 1 full-time and several part-time staff/interns and will serve on the Center’s senior leadership team.
Essential functions include:
• Establishing short- and long-term strategic objectives for family support program improvement, expansion and integration;
• Helping develop an overall family support operating budget and generating new joint revenue streams (grants, fee structures);
• Overseeing grants management, including data collection and reporting;
• Providing support and professional development to program staff in areas such as community outreach, intake, training, volunteer management, service delivery and evaluation;
• Hiring, supervising and evaluating staff;
• Supervising teams of older adult volunteers;
• Serving as a liaison between family support programs and University departments;
• Developing communication systems, PR activities and high-quality program materials;
• Reviewing national family support models and best practice standards in order to enhance program quality; and
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates must possess a master’s degree in social work, public health or related field and a minimum of 7 years of program management experience. Candidates also must have extensive knowledge and experience related to family support/caregiving services, excellent verbal and written communication skills; supervisory experience, grants management skills and fundraising track record; technological proficiency; volunteer management experience; and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ph.D. or Ph.D. candidate preferred.
