Gates Millennium Scholarship Workshop
Location: MW West, 3861 Lancaster Ave.
Dates: Sundays, 3-5pm October 27, 2013 through January 19, 2014 (12 sessions)

The rewards of working in all of Mighty Writers programs are great: smiles, success & a sense of accomplishment in the face of dire statistics. But seldom do we offer opportunities with such tangible goals. We are looking for 15-20 volunteers who can commit to most of the dates above. You will be helping 1-2 students apply for the national Gates Millennium Scholarship, which could make the difference between a teen attending college or not. The potential financial and personal impact of your work is enormous. We hope you’ll join us.

To sign up, please email ajohnhall@mightywriters.org with your available date(s). Our goal is to match students 1:1 with writing mentors, and we will ask all volunteers to commit to at least 6 of the 12 sessions.

Partners in this project include the Mayor’s Office of Education, Philly College Prep Rountable, Philadelphia Writing Project, the School District of Philadelphia & the Gates Millennium Scholarship.
