2014 Gulf-South Summit: Connecting Learning and Civic Outcomes

Posted by on July 08, 2013

Please make plans to attend next year’s Gulf-South Summit on Service-Learning and Civic Engagement through Higher Education, which will be held at Auburn University next March 26-28. This is always a great conference; registration is now open (see the website, http://www.gulfsouthsummit.org/registration.htm) and we expect the call for proposals will be forthcoming soon (August) as well.

The mission of  Gulf-South Summit on Service-Learning and Civic Engagement through Higher Education the is to promote networking among practitioners, research, ethical practices, reciprocal campus-community partnerships, sustainable programs, and a culture of engagement and public awareness through service-learning and other forms of civic engagement.

Now in its 12th year, the Gulf-South Summit has become one of foremost annual conferences on service-learning in the United States. Originally organized by several major southern universities, the Summit continues its tradition of meeting in the South for its hospitality and pleasant spring weather. However, the Summit is truly national in scope, annually attracting faculty, students and service professionals from all over America to network with colleagues and meet leading authorities on civic engagement.

Auburn University is a long-time institutional sponsor of the Gulf-South Summit. This is the first time the Summit has been held in Alabama, and we are eager to provide attendees with an excellent conference experience, as well as the pleasant surroundings of campus, our college town and area attractions.

Auburn University, as a land-grant institution, is committed to serving the citizens of Alabama and beyond. Recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for the scope and quality of its curricular and community engagement, Auburn has an extensive organization dedicated to outreach and service learning.
