New Online Tool to Search L&I Database
A new online tool called License to Inspect allows users to search, sort and analyze most of the property data collected by the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Licenses and Inspections (L&I). The City has strived to be a national leader in the open data movement. This application, designed by local GIS software firm Azavea, is another step Philadelphia has taken to share data with the public. This tool is particularly useful for informing community organizations and engaged citizens about the issuance of zoning or construction permits, demolition permits, other licenses or code violations that may affect the quality of life in their neighborhoods. It enables searches by location, date range and event type, such as sign permits or alteration permits. Importantly, all of the L&I online records are accessible with this tool.
