The mission of the NNCC is to strengthen the capacity, growth and development of nurse-managed health centers to provide quality health care services to vulnerable populations and to eliminate health disparities in underserved communities. Students Run Philly Style
A program of the NNCC, transforms students’ lives through running and mentorship. Volunteer running leaders are paired with teams of students to inspire them to push themselves further than they ever imagined. Their goal: the completion of a full or half marathon. The courage and effort required the unfailing support of a caring mentor and the thrill of its ultimate achievement results in a student who knows anything is possible.

General Responsibilities
The Program Director of Students Run Philly Style ensures that the integrity of the Students Run Philly Style culture is upheld at every level, with a focus on the program values of courage, effort and respect. The Program Director is responsible for the oversight of all activities related to program design, recruitment, enrollment, retention, and evaluation. The Program Director is responsible for day to day management of the program budget (current budget – $910,000). With the Students Run Executive Director, the Program Director ensures financial stability of the program, including meeting fundraising needs and monitoring expenditures accordingly. The Program Director is also responsible for ensuring the implementation of a 3 year strategic plan, and has specific responsibility for ensuring local program growth and retention of students (key elements of strategic plan). This position reports to the Students Run Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
Primary Tasks and Responsibilities
Solidify and maintain partnerships with local program stakeholders:
- Cultivate program specific partnerships, including but not limited to: Philadelphia School District (at the school level and District wide level); City of Philadelphia (Mayor’s Office, City Council members, Department of Recreation, Department of Commerce, Fairmount Park Commission); Local universities (specifically Temple University, Drexel University); National Nursing Centers Consortium member centers (for physicals); volunteer organizations (City Year, local high schools, etc.)
- Maintain relationships with existing funders including representatives from foundations, corporations, and governmental sources.
Ensure program success:
- Oversee all program implementation efforts
- Oversee all program evaluation efforts
- Oversee marketing/PR efforts
- Ensure safety of all students by implementing full scale child safety procedures
- Oversee the implementation of all fundraising efforts:
Oversee local fundraising initiatives, which includes but is not limited to:
- Gener8tion Run (large scale, public race attracting nearly 2,000 participants at the Navy Yard; includes comprehensive sponsorship solicitation)
- Individual fundracers (individuals raise funds on behalf of program while working towards specific race)
- Sponsor a Student program (individually sponsored students with comprehensive package for funder that includes several correspondences with student throughout the year)
- Extra Mile Event (fundraising event honoring an individual, includes dinner and silent auction)
- Young Friends events (smaller level fundraising events geared to 20-35 year olds, includes a silent auction and social event)
- Race course signs (solicitation of sponsors for signs that tell a Students Run story along major race courses)
- Oversee all prospect research, grant writing and proposal submission for all foundation grants
- Oversee individual donor solicitation (2-3 times per year; written and email solicitation)
- Oversee corporate target program, including the design of corporate options package, management of board member contacts and assistance, and training of staff and board for all “asks”
- Continuously explore new and innovative funding opportunities
- Responsible for day to day management of Students Run Philly Style budget:
Monitor revenue/expenditures on an ongoing basis
- Meet with Students Run accountant on regular basis to monitor and cross check revenue/expenditures (Consistently perform quality assurance checks on categorization of expenditures)
- Relative to revenue/expenditure monitoring, recommend program adjustments to Students Run Executive Director as needed
- Coordinate implementation of 3 year strategic plan:
Design and manage large scale local expansion to serve 1,000 students per year with retention of 75% of students
- Oversee documentation of all processes and procedures, including necessary staffing and roles, to ensure success of local expansion
- Manage the marketing and PR efforts needed to execute the local expansion (to arrive at program participation and necessary fundraising to support expansion)
Skills:
- Passion and belief in program
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships at all levels
- Well-organized
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong budgeting skills
Experience:
- 8 – 10 years of experience in program coordination and implementation
- Strong fundraising record
- Experience with youth a plus
- Experience in long distance running a plus
- Education Requirement:
- Masters degree is required
