Film screening and call for films re civil rights

ITVS Community Cinema, in partnership with WHYY,  PhillyCAM and ReelBlack, will be presenting a free screening of The Powerbroker: Whitney Young’s Fight For Civil Rights on February 28, 2013 at PhillyCAM’s downtown Philadelphia studio. The film tells the story of a national civil rights leader, Whitney Young, whose story is shared less often than other civil rights leaders.

As part of this event we are issuing a call for submissions for documentary films by local filmmakers that tell the stories of local civil rights activists and share their contributions with our audiences. Films can be any length. Filmmakers must be from the greater Philadelphia area (surrounding five counties, Delaware, and southern New Jersey). Selected films will screen in conjunction with The Powerbroker at the event on February 28th.  Submissions will also be considered for programming on PhillyCAM, Comcast Channel 66 & 966 or Verizon 29 & 30 in Philadelphia.

Submissions must be received by January 7, 2013 5pm.
