The Family Planning Council is a private, non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Council’s mission is to ensure access to high quality, comprehensive, reproductive and related health and prevention services to primarily low-income individuals and families. The Council develops, manages, and promotes programs that are innovative, research-based and responsive to women, men and adolescents. In fulfilling this mission, the Council provides financial and other support to a wide range of organizations throughout the five-county Philadelphia region. These include family planning providers; providers serving families affected by HIV, and breast and cervical cancer screening and prevention programs for women 50 and older. We have an immediate opportunity for a Prison Program Coordinator to join our team!

Primary Responsibilities include:

Coordinate and facilitate group and individual counseling, parenting, and childbirth education sessions, HIV/AIDS prevention education sessions, Chlamydia screening, and HIV Aftercare Services at assigned prisons for incarcerated pregnant and parenting mothers and parenting fathers.
Work closely with stakeholders and organizations that provide services to incarcerated and reentry populations.
Oversee pre-release planning for inmates with HIV disease and provide referral and linkage services into medical and community services upon release from prison.
Communicate regularly with prison staff concerning programming logistics and inmate recruitment and participation.
Participate in program strategic planning, growth, and identification of funding sources.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work independently, manage time, and prioritize tasks, have strong technology and computer skills, and work and communicate effectively with others in diverse settings with a high degree of integrity and confidentiality. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel to various prisons located in Delaware and Chester counties and other work locations in the area and work M-F 9 to 5 with occasional non-traditional hours. Approximately 90% of work time is on-site at prison locations and 10% in our Philadelphia offices.

5+ years of counseling, parent education, HIV/AIDS education related experience working with at-risk populations; experience with in-prison and/or offender programs is preferred; BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Social Work, or other related field of study; Masters degree preferred.
