Summary:
Legacy Youth Tennis and Education (formerly Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education), a long-standing nonprofit organization in the City of Philadelphia, is in search of a highly capable individual to spearhead its grant writing efforts.
Our organization is currently in the midst of an exciting time of change and growth, and we are looking to expand institutional funding to support our new and growing initiatives. The Grant Writer must bring a high level of competency, motivation, and the ability to learn quickly. More importantly, the candidate must share a passion for young people and have the skills to “tell the story” of our purpose, our people and our programs in a convincing way.
The Grant Writer will work with the Vice President of Organizational Advancement to bolster the organization’s efforts to secure institutional funding. The Grant Writer will research new funding opportunities, prepare grant proposals and reports, and assist with organizational writing.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Write grant proposals, letters of intent, reports and other correspondence
• Collaborate with program managers to develop content for proposals and reports
• Research and identify funding opportunities within the corporate, foundation and public sectors
• Draft and edit various written materials
Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of two years of successful grant writing experience. Knowledge of youth sports, education, youth development, or health/nutrition strongly preferred
• Exemplary communications and writing skills with experience in tailoring message to various audiences
• Ability to thoughtfully translate programmatic needs into grant content
• Solid strategic thinking, problem-solving and planning skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Willingness to take on any task
• Ability to coordinate with diverse internal and external business partners
• Passion for young people, especially those from under-served communities
• Impeccable integrity
Hours:
This position is a part-time position requiring 10-12 hours/week. Hours are flexible. Position allows for work from home with some in-office work each week.
Compensation:
Compensation will be $35.00/hour.
