Call for Papers: MPSA Political Science Conference
Posted by on September 24, 2012
CALL FOR PAPERS. 71st MPSA Political Science Conference, April 11-14, 2013. October 5th Proposal Deadline.
Please forward this email to colleagues or graduate students who may be interested in presenting at the 71st Annual MPSA Political Science Conference. There are more research papers are presented here than any other political science conference and many opportunities to meet with colleagues. The MPSA Conference has sections that cover many fields in social science that interact with political science. You do not need to be a member to submit a proposal or present a paper, but you do need to have an account: http://tinyurl.com/9f9w5m9
The MPSA also publishes one of the top journals in the discipline, the American Journal of Political Science. The Editor of the AJPS is Rick Wilson (Rice University) and you can see the author guidelines and a virtual issue that looks at research funded by the National Science Foundation here: http://tinyurl.com/9g4r9co
On May 9th, the House of Representatives passed an amendment to the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act to prohibit NSF political science funding. This decision does not reduce any government spending, but instead goes with a political decision about what should be funded versus a merit-based decision. The House and Senate leadership have agreed to begin the new fiscal year on October 1, 2012, with a Continuing Resolution (CR) that would last six months. Thus, the decision has been delayed, but please remember to contact your Senators: http://tinyurl.com/93sd5vc
Founded in 1939, the MPSA is located at 101 W. Kirkwood Avenue, Suite 207, Bloomington, IN.
