Practice Professor of Educational Leadership
The Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a Practice Professor in K-12 Educational Leadership. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Educational Leadership, Management, and/or Organizational Behavior, or a closely related field, and have substantial employment experience as a senior school administrator or leadership professional involved in school, district or program management. Desirable areas of emphasis include instructional leadership, professional development, data-informed decision making, K-12 curriculum, and school-community dynamics. The candidate must also possess a record of academic publishing and presentations, success in obtaining and managing grants, and professional network leadership.
We seek a candidate who has thought deeply about the challenges of implementing school reform efforts at the school and district levels, and who has experience building professional cultures that support both practitioner and student learning in K-12, urban settings. The candidate should also be skilled at negotiating the complex policy and market environments of public school systems. Experience with private sector schooling and/or international contexts is desirable. We expect the successful candidate to provide intellectual leadership, through teaching, mentoring and research, to division, cross-division, and executive education programs.
The University of Pennsylvania is an equal opportunity affirmative action employer; women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Practice Professor positions are five-year appointments, renewable to ten years. We will begin reviewing applications on November 15, 2012 and we will continue to consider new applications until the position is filled.
